A Last Word About Blind Willie Johnson...

I had never heard the name Blind Willie Johnson before Ben introduced me to his music and now not a week goes by where I'm not drawn to his music. For those of you who know about Blind Willie Johnson this will be no surprise but it is worth mentioning his legacy.

In 1977 the Voyager spacecraft launched, the spacecraft carried a golden record with musical and linguistic samplings from everyone from Beethoven to the Navajo Indians to Chuck Berry. Among the 27 songs on the record, alongside Stravinsky, Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, was Blind Willie Johnson singing Dark was the Night, Cold Was the Ground. Make of it what you will but I for one am quite proud that he one of humanity's ambassadors.
