Melee Comics is an "independent" comic book publisher, that publishes free comics primarily in the digital/online format. The company was founded in 2005 by Nathan Staples & Ben Dewey but the two have been producing comics together since 1998.

In addition to being the production company for Ben Dewey & Nathan Staples work Melee Comics is actively seeking new unknown talent to work with to create the same high quality original stories that it's fans have come to expect.
Ben Dewey is an internationally published artist living in Portland Oregon. Graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a fine arts degree he brings a classic sensiblity to his work while still keeping an updated style. Ben started drawing comics after discovering the works of Jim Lee and now tries to blur the lines between the works of such greats as Bryan Hitch, Kevin Nolan, Mike Mignola and Jack Kirby. Ben has won both the prestigious Mary C Page Traveling scholarship & Sue Wall Painting Scholarship.
Nathan Staples is a freelance writer living in Cleveland Heights Ohio. He pushes the edge of graphic storytelling by taking familiar subject matter and putting it into a new context. Nathan has been a featured panalist at Harvard University and his work has been published by Skinner House Books and in Synapse Magazine. Nathan went on to become editor of Synapse Magazine. He is currently working on his first novel.
